Principal's Message

Dear NUSD Parents and School Community,

Welcome to the 2020-20201 school year. Although things are different this year, we are excited to begin the year with new online programs.

To help our students and families with the online instruction, NUSD will be checking out laptops to each student who needs a device. If your NUSD student needs a laptop please fill out the form below using the link below. Please note that families in need, who lack internet access, can also request a “MiFi” device. If you are unable to complete the form online, please feel free to contact your child’s school to assist you in completing the form.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe3ikv1yWNxsWVY0YuRW7gstdPRaLrmamq1i1DtoX5dLbraYA/viewform

We ask that you please read the form carefully as parents and guardians will be acknowledging district policies and regulations regarding the use of district electronics such as the laptops and devices. At the time you pick up the electronic devices, there is no need for you to sign any paperwork, as the request form submitted for the devices is the acknowledgment and acceptance of the expectations, policies, and procedures for the use of the devices.

The electronic devices are to be picked up by the student’s parent/legal guardian. The school principals will be sending out more information regarding the pick-up dates and times. Please refer to the district/school websites, Messenger emails, and Facebook pages for additional information.  Each school will be sending out information regarding educational software systems and technical support.

As the CDC guidelines suggest, take care and please:

- Be safe and personally responsible.

- Wear a mask/face covering to protect yourself and others.

- Avoid large and public gatherings.

- Practice hand washing and good hygiene often and consistently.

- Stay home as much as possible.

Stay safe and healthy!

Superintendent

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe3ikv1yWNxsWVY0YuRW7gstdPRaLrmamq1i1DtoX5dLbraYA/viewform

- Sea seguro y personalmente responsable.

¡Mantente seguro y saludable!

Superintendente

Dear AJM Hawks Parents,

It was wonderful to see everyone when you came to pick up your child’s belongings. For those of you who weren’t able to come on the assigned days, don’t worry.  You can still come during our regular summer office hours 8:30-3:00 pm.  If you can’t come yourself, you can send someone else to pick them up.  We ask that you let us know who you are sending.

Our school year did not end as we wished it would have.  Please be assured that your AJM staff members will be working throughout the summer to be ready for school in August, whatever that may look like.  Keep on the lookout for phone calls, emails, web page updates and Facebook posts for information on our return to school in August.

As you continue the role of parent and teacher over the summer, I want to thank you for your commitment to your child’s education. It’s no small task to keep the house running while simultaneously acting as a teacher. You SOAR!

Moving forward, it will make a huge impact on your child’s success in school that they continue to read as much as possible, practice math facts and skills, and practice their English skills throughout the summer. This will help your child prevent or lessen the ‘summer slide,’ a description of what happens when students lose knowledge over the summer months.   Below, you will find ideas to encourage their reading and tips to help your child continue to experience the joy of reading throughout the summer.

How can you help to lessen the impact of the summer slide?

·       Read! Read! Read!

·       Help your child choose books that interest them.

·       Read to and with your child.

·       Connect with a summer reading program/reading challenge

·       Find a pen pal (friend, relative, etc) that you can write a letter to throughout the summer.
